The Unspoken Truth: Why We All Chase Gold
It's often said that money can't buy happiness, but let's be real—it certainly buys choices. We see people everyday making compromises, even sacrificing their rights and wrongs, for financial gain. Faces are changed, loyalties shift, all for the sake of money. So why does society often label some as "gold diggers" while subtly condoning the same pursuit in others?
Perhaps those dubbed "gold diggers" aren't inherently greedy; maybe they've simply seen the world for what it is. A harsh reality where money and power often dictate respect and admiration. To a certain extent, aren't we all "gold diggers" in our own ways? Who genuinely desires a life of struggle, sacrificing comforts and dreams of luxury?
Everyone strives for a better life, for the ability to afford a certain standard of living. This pursuit of financial security isn't inherently bad. The crucial distinction lies between the need for money and the lust for money.
Yet, we often witness a disturbing trend: people getting impressed by wealth and power, even to the point of justifying wrongdoings. Why are we so easily swayed by someone's financial status? Do we genuinely believe they'll share their fortunes with us? Unlikely.
It's time to be faithful to our consciences, if we still possess them. Shifting allegiances from those who are financially struggling to those who are well-off simply because of their money is a common, and frankly, shameful act. What if roles reverse? What if the poor and weak of today become the rich and strong of tomorrow? Will you be the first to fawn over them then?
Maintain one face. Cultivate self-respect and dignity. Don't become a commodity, easily bought and sold by the highest bidder. Your worth is far greater than any price tag.
